New Luxury Watch Boutique Opens at JFK Airport

New Luxury Watch Boutique Opens at JFK Airport

Travelers at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York now have a new option for last-minute holiday shopping. Bob’s Watches, a luxury watch re-seller, opened its first airport location today, December 19. This marks a significant milestone as it is the first luxury preowned watch boutique in a major international airport.

What to Expect at Bob’s Watches at JFK

The new store is located in Terminal 8 and offers a curated selection of Rolex watches, along with preowned pieces from popular brands like Omega and Tudor. Each watch is authenticated by experts to assure quality.

“We’re carrying newer models that are in like-new condition and come as full sets with boxes and papers,” said Carol Altieri, COO of Bob’s Watches.

Altieri emphasized that the selection is focused and current, making it ideal for both collectors and new buyers looking for quality timepieces.

Shopping Experience for Travelers

One of the standout features of this new store is that customers can try on watches in person. This is a significant advantage since many high-end watches are often unavailable or on backorder due to high demand.

“We’re seeing demand up pretty much across the board,” Altieri noted. “There’s a lot of energy right now from both collectors and first-time buyers who want great watches that are available right away.”

Pricing and Availability of Luxury Watches

While prices for luxury watches can be quite high, they don’t seem to deter customers. For example, a new Rolex GMT-Master starts at $10,700, and preowned versions can be found online for $11,995 or even higher for more elaborate styles. The Omega Speedmaster is also a popular choice, starting at $7,595.

  • Rolex GMT-Master: starting at $10,700
  • Preowned Rolex: available for $11,995 and up
  • Omega Speedmaster: starting at $7,595

Impact on Airport Retail Market

The opening of Bob’s Watches at JFK is part of a broader trend in airport retail. The overall airport retail market is expected to reach $65 billion by 2030. Airports around the world are increasingly adding preowned boutiques to meet the growing interest in vintage and luxury goods.

Other airports, such as Montréal–Pierre Elliott Trudeau International and LaGuardia Airport, are also embracing this trend, making space for luxury resellers.

Travel-Friendly Luxury Watches

It seems that now is the perfect time for luxury watches, especially for travelers. Altieri mentioned that many of the watches offered, like the Rolex Air-King and Yacht-Master, are designed for durability and everyday wear, making them perfect for those on the go.

“We didn’t plan it as a theme,” Altieri expressed, “but travel-friendly pieces are designed for movement and everyday wear.”

Final Thoughts on Luxury Watch Shopping at JFK

The opening of Bob’s Watches provides travelers with a unique opportunity to purchase high-end timepieces without the need for online orders or long waits. With the luxury watch market thriving and more travelers interested in exquisite timepieces, this new boutique is well-positioned to attract a diverse range of customers.

As the demand for luxury watches continues to grow, who knows what other exciting shopping experiences airports will offer in the future?
